Spring fatigue on heavily used double garage doors
Why it happens here
A wider, heavier door places greater load on its torsion or extension spring system, and repeated daily cycles gradually fatigue the metal. When a spring breaks, the door may feel suddenly heavy or stop midway. An opener should not be used to compensate for that lost lifting force.
Our approach
We secure the door, inspect the spring and related lift hardware, and select a replacement suited to the door's size and weight. We then balance the door and test the opener, rather than installing a part without checking the system it supports.
